Sites

A collection of random web sites:

Anthony Bourdain at the Travel Channel

Anthony Bourdain’s blog site on the Travel Channel. If I were to have a hero or man-crush, he would be the one.  Please take note of the use of “if” and “would be”.  Thank you.

Facebook - I’m sure you’re on it. If not, what the F?

Google News – great site for general news. Stories appear based on their prominence on all other news sites. You can then follow the listing of other site that cover the story and choose your source.  You can also create a custom news search that will display stories of that interest area based on your keywords.

The Week – my favorite digestable newsweekly

One of my favorite “quick read” news insights. They try to summarize and cover each key story from all angles – who said what from what side – papers, columnists, editorials, and so forth. If ever you wanted to read the Economist each week but it’s just too damn dense for your week, this is a great, non-US centric quality but lighter alternative.

The World Series of Poker

The big tournament.  I’m hoping to make it in this year for the 3rd year in a row. Last year in cashed in 1 of 3 events. The year before I only played in the Main Event and almost cashed but not quite.  Looking for big improvements this year.

Salad Fingers

VERY disturbing flash animation by David Firth. If you dig deeper into his stuff (especially what I assume was a film school project of his on YouTube), it’s gets pretty freaky.

PokerVT

Daniel Negreanu’s online poker academy – subscription service. Looks pretty damn good. I’m on a free trial as I write this – the questions is, will I find enough time?
